At Empire Pacific Investigative Services Inc., we are currently using the latest space age technology known as GPS to track motor vehicles. It is the same technology used by the US Government and in Automobiles by Onstar. Originally developed to help the military track airplanes and watercrafts, GPS is made up of approximately 24 satellites, each with a clock positioned so that three are always above the horizon. Earthbound receivers can determine the position of a person, place or thing by measuring the amount of time it takes for a signal to arrive from three of the satellites. Generally, the device is fitted to a car "covertly", meaning it is hidden from view and there are no warning notices on the car to suggest that a device is attached. At EPIS we use that latest GPS technology and magnetic mounting, so it takes only a few seconds to be up and running. Information is updated minute by minute 24 hours a day. This includes date, times, location and the speed of the vehicle.
